It's not every weekend you get a big name reggae artist coming to town so when we heard that the legendary Alton Ellis was coming to visit on May 10th 2003 we we're understandably exited.  The evening started with High Wycombe selector Rude Boy Monty and Reading's year-to-year sound Sweet Sensation warming the crowd up with a nice varied selection of reggae from over the years.  By the time Alton was due on stage the place was bustling with people in anticipation of his arrival, a short warm up act came on and sang a couple of songs (sorry didn't catch his name) and then it was time for the main event. Alton came on and did everything you would expect of him, he sang a string of his hits which were all well received and he worked the crowd with his charm.  A true legend and a true professional it was a pleasure to see him in action, it's hard to believe that next year he will be celebrating his 60th birthday!  We wish him many more happy years.
