Classic Wonder was launched in 1991, it was one man's vision to create a dancehall sound system. He set out on his task getting amps, speakers and also a custom built pre amp for extra quality which was always in the forefront of his mind. Classic Wonder's first date was in central club, Reading along with a sound called One Love. the dance was a success with a lot of people turning out to hear Reading's brand new sound. Centy was the first member to join the sound with help from some freelance DJs such as Desi, Dusty, Rude Boy Monty. By late 1991 Welton and Dollar (formerly from Sir Graphics) joined the sound and became the main Djs.

Classic had dates up and down the country playing with top Djs and sounds. As the sound grew it was important to acquire new members to keep up with its growing schedules. Moose joined in early '92 and took the role as a technical assistant making sure everything ran smoothly. By this time the sound began to build a good following and were soon playing every weekend locally in Cumbers wine bar as well as nationwide.1994 saw X-Amount (Lees Unlimited) join the sound with a big impact bringing with him a vast amount of sound knowledge from his native Jamaica. Classic soon began playing dub plates from reggae's top artist.'94 also saw the sound win its first cup clash after a tense and heated dance featuring Black Star and Black Cobra. Soon followed Solo Banton a DJ & selector from London (Majestic sound) which was another great boost, by '95 Dollar & Solo became the main Djs on the sound. Classic Wonder was now firmly established playing dances, carnivals, private functions and clash dances with top international sounds.

The next big leap was a two week tour of St. Vincent & the Grenadines. Solo, Dollar and Shamma played a total of 7 dates and featured on all of the top radio stations. After a couple of dates on Union island they returned to the main land to play in the national stadium with Red Rat, Goofy, Hawkeye and General Degree to a crowd of thousands. The sound has shown its versatility in entering the Jah Works roots dub cup and reaching the final. Up to this day you can still hear the sound playing roots dances with top roots sounds like Jah Youth. Classic Wonder is no stranger to radio stations and can regularly be heard on stations nationwide. In 2002 Classic had a two week tour in The Gambia which was so successful they returned later in the year and plan to go at least once a year. 2002 also saw its latest member Esko-bar join, with his raw Jamaican style Classic Wonder is truly ready for anything which comes it way. Now very well known within the industry Classic Wonder is set to be established for many years to come.

Classic Wonder would like to thank EVERYONE who helped to make it what it is today, & a big shout to all who have followed and supported the sound. For more info check out www.classicwonder.com     Bless!!
