Hailing from a place called ACTON W3 in the WEST of LONDON is a young formidable sound known as the (multi award winners) JAG 1 FAMILY, consisting of two versatile selector’s/mic men who go by the name of DANGER & SLIM DIZZLE.  The first of the selector’s goes by the name of DANGER, who was born in KINGSTON 12, JONES TOWN, JAMAICA where at the age 6 he moved up to a different part of  JAMAICA called WHITEHALL where he was heavily influenced by the reggae culture, for the next 7 years he grew up around some of JAMAICA’s finest recording artist’s such as BUJU BANTON, SANCHEZ, RED DRAGON, FLOUGAN & LIZARD.  It was there he met his family member soon to be mentor the late (multi award winning) DJ VILLAGE. 

It was at the age of 13 when DANGER first arrived in LONDON, where he lived in SOUTH ACTON W3 attended BRENTSIDE HIGH SCHOOL in WEST LONDON, he then established a bond with three other high school member’s sharing the same musical taste as him, it was at this point in 1997/98, that they formed the sound JAG 1 FAMILY with the former member’s STAN DA MAN, TICO TEK9 & the late KRAZY KRIS.  With the guidance of DJ VILLAGE, who was regularly promoting successful dances in ACTON TOWN HALL (Cant Believe My Eye’s Pt.1-6) & WHISPERS NITE SPOT (Zimm Zimma Pt.1-4) the JAG 1 FAMILY was receiving more exposure in the dancehall scene.  This was followed by a regular slot on LONDON’s then biggest radio station CRUISE FM.  At this time DANGER’S friend of the family SLIM DIZZLE was a keen youth eager to learn about the music industry.  It was for a duration of a good few years that the JAG 1 FAMILY had an eventful time, however during this period a number of changes took place that resulted in a few member’s having to pursue other avenue’s in their life leaving JAG 1 FAMILY still a household name.

The second selector SLIM DIZZLE born in ACTON W3, WEST LONDON started off his career at the age of 14 years old practicing the art of mixing GARAGE with HIP HOP.  He had a rich source of influence from his father who was a selector of the former DIAMOND SOUND, from WEST LONDON.  This introduced him to different genre’s of music from REVIVAL to RAGGA, RARE GROOVE to HIP HOP & R’NB, in which his older brother would be drumming from his bedroom.  Another source of influence came from his West Indian heritage & his many visit’s to his mother’s birth place of BARBADOS where he learnt about SOCA & CALYPSO music, at the same time back in LONDON he would listen to his cousins KEN YOUNG BLOOD & also the NASTY ROCKERS.

By the age of 15 SLIM DIZZLE’s father had seen the potential he had & gave him an impressive 3hour set in a blue’s party in which he swept the much elder ladies off their feet with such selection’s as SANCHEZ (One in a million), BERES HAMMOND’s (One Dance),  DERRICK HARRIOT’s (Groovy Situation). The response from the party showed SLIM DIZZLE had a natural talent for music & entertaining, though it took a number of year’s for him to see his potential.

Drawing to the close of 2004 an unstoppable tag team was formed with DANGER’s distinctive style of hyping a large or small crowd & SLIM DIZZLE’s high speed selecting an swift mixing, JAG 1 FAMILY was assured success.  With both selector’s in their early 20’s the name JAG1 has already accomplished playing along some of the top selector’s & sounds such as JAMAICA’s 4 x 4 EXODUS SOUND, CASH MONEY SOUND, selector TONY MATTERHORN, UK’s CHRIS GOLDFINGER, TIM WESTWOOD, TREVOR NELSON, RAMPAGE & AMERICA’S veteran’s KING ADIES with BABY FACE.  Also having warmed up for such JAMAICAN artist’s from BUJU BANTON & BUSHMAN to ELEPHANT MAN, ASSASIN & LADY SAW. UK artists include LOC, SWEETIE IRIE, PHEOBE 1, TUBBY T, CHUCKY STAR & PEPPER DAN UK & BARBADOS’S RUPEE & HYPA DAWG aka LIL RICK.
 

DANGER & SLIM DIZZLE are two selector’s/mic men definitely not set on just playing in WEST LONDON, the name JAG 1 FAMILY is featured in many different area’s of the UK, Including SOUTH, EAST, NORTH & WEST LONDON home to NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL where they have been featured on the year to year FUSION HI POWER float, also joining them over in MANCHESTER CARNIVAL playing for thousands.  Other place’s include Birmingham’s (Redwich), LEED’s (Rhythm & Blues club), COVENTRY where the sound was awarded 2^nd place in the MARKED FOR DEATH SOUND CLASH.
 

Area’s such as HIGH WYCOMBE, AYLESBURY, SLOUGH & READING, will not be shy to the sound named JAG 1 FAMILY, as they have featured in these area’s for a number of year’s, often in SLOUGH & READING playing in house parties, community center event’s & club’s such as VISIONS NITE CLUB, LITE HOUSE BAR, FORUM NITE CLUB, COLORZ NITE CLUB, FACE BAR, FEZ CLUB & READING’s BOXING CLUB where the sound took home two awards at READING’s top promoter CHRISTINE’s YEAR IN REVIEW 2005.  Receiving awards along side READING‘s finest selector’s such as RUDIE RICH, DJ CENTY, CLASSIC WONDER SOUND, BLACK STAR SOUND & many more including promoter’s and dancehall’s king & queen (DANGER AWARDED APPRECIATION TO DANCEHALL, SLIM DIZZLE AWARDED BEST NEW COMER 2005).

When not playing out the JAG 1 FAMILY are still not at rest as they are featured four times a week on one of the country’s leading radio stations BASHMENT FM 87.5, with DANGER doing the night time spot’s on MON-TUE between 12am-2am, it was no surprise the show named party zone with DANGER’s unique style of presenting has the listeners locked in for the full duration of the show, enjoying the sounds of new/old bashment & reggae also featuring dub plates from the JAG 1 catalogue that have in such artist from GREGORY ISAACS & LUKIE D to UK’s dancehall king GAPPY RANK’s to name few.  SLIM DIZZLE’s Tuesday 6pm-8pm show named the KNOCK OUT SHOW pack’s a heavy weight punch of exclusive HIP HOP & R’NB track’s, mixed cd give away’s & guest list for special events, also featuring a one hour special of SLOW JAM’s for the ladies, explaining why they call him “THE GIRLS DEM DJ”.  His Thursday 4pm-6pm drive time show features a barrage of different selections each week, including SOUL, R’N’B, HIP HOP, BASHMENT, REGGAE, REVIVAL, RARE GROOVE, even a bit of GRIME along with HOUSE & GARAGE.

The formidable young sound men already have the future set, with plans to take the name JAG 1 FAMILY to Canada, America, Jamaica, Barbados & Grenada.  Also bringing out mixed cd’s every term keeps the promotion flowing & working with some of the underground artist to promote future talent nights is another one of many plans as SLIM DIZZLE has launched his own promotion team called GIANT PROMOTIONS which is set to help those younger & less fortunate.
